What is Micro Needling?

Micro Needling AKA Collagen Induction Therapy is a derma roller or electric derma pen procedure that uses small needles to prick the skin. The purpose of the treatment is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more toned skin. Micro Needling is mostly used on the face and may treat various scars, wrinkles, large pores, pigmentations and stretch marks.


Micro Needling is minimally invasive, requiring no downtime after. LED light therapy can be added to the treatment for maximum effect and helps to speed up recovery by bring the blood to the surface. It is consider safe for most people in good health however pregnant women and people with strong acne treatment such as Roaccutane would not are suitable for this treatment. Usually after the treatment you will experience some redness but this will subside within 24 hours. Around 3-4 days after the skin will become dry and eventually will shed off during face wash. Generally Micro Needling works best with multiple sessions depending on specific concerns.


Aftercare is immensely important during the Micro Needling journey as the skin can be sensitive to sun exposure and certain skin products. Client should avoid sun exposure, use SPF50 sun screen everyday to prevent pigmentation recurring and premature ageing. Vigorous exercise and makeup is not recommended within 48 hours post the treatment. Follow up facial is also a great way to boost the effectiveness of Micro Needling, particularly performed with a hydrating mask and extractions will clear the impurities trapped inside the pores.
